Pressure Transducer

The electrical interpretation of pressure is based upon the principle of operation of a strain gauge, wherein structural deformation of the load sensitive member of the device called wire grid is measured. When the gauge is subjected to load the wire grid is stretched, changing its diameter and length and its electrical resistance, thus through measurement of the change in resistance of the wire grid with the gage under stress and evaluation of the force producing  the load is obtained.

This operation involve load and pressure from 100 pound to more than 10,000 psi.

Desuperheaters

A desuperheaters is to reduce the temperature of superheated steam. The simplest construction of this device involves single or multiple spray nozzles that are inserted into the steam header, allowing water to be sprayed into the steam flow to reduce its temperature. By regulating the water quantity through the desuperheater, the degree of heat absortion can be controlled and desired steam temperature maintained. This mechanically atomized desuperheaters is used both small and large pipelines.

Other desuperheaters design utilize atomizing steam flow to produce a fine spray of atomized cooling water into the steam line. The steam assisted design offer excellent performance at low cost.

For small process lines, a desuperheater which relies on full circle water injection can maintain final temperature to within 20 degree F of saturation in pipe sizes down to 1 inch.

Motor Control Functional Testing

Below is the method of the Motor control functional test
- set the isolator of the RCU in the field to open position
- remove the lock out tag out (LOTO), then rack in the feeder and close the isolator on the draw-out unit.
- measure the incoming voltage, check the phase sequence of the incoming power at field
- Open the isolator at draw-out unit
- Closed the isolator at the RCU
- Closed the isolator at the draw-out unit
- initiate start at the substation
- verify the rotation of the motor, if the rotation is correct direction
- then verify the running signal of the motor if it is link to DCS
- initiate trip at the substation draw-out unit
- verify the status of the motor at the field as well as in the DCS
- reset trip at substation draw-out unit
- verify again the status in DCS
- initiate start in the field (RCU)
- verify the status at DCS, if confirmed running signal
- then stop the motor at RCU and verify the status in DCS if confirmed
- Open the isolator in substation draw-unit and rack out
- Put Lock out tag out (LOTO)
- Test complete

Ranges from 18 to 4000 psi
It is made of a thin walled tube flattened on
opposite Side to produce an elliptical cross section
then formed into a spiral when pressure is applied
 into the open end tube tends to uncoil
The pointer is directly connected to the spiral
 to measure equivalent pressure reading

It is an industrial manometer
whose one arm is replaced by a
large diameter well so that the
pressure differential is indicated
only by the height of the column
in single arm. The area AH of the well
should be as great a possible compared
to area AL of the arm for good readability
on the arm.

inclined arm serves to expand the scale
of the instrument thereby increasingly
readability.

-is the term for stand, it is a steel support where by transmitter is mounted.

Normally constructed from 2 inch pipe schedule 40 or 80 with steel plate,
the transmitter is attached to the stand by means of bracket provided
by the transmitter vendor.

Stand can be accommodate one or more transmitter.

Stand can be fabricate with Earth connection for the transmitter protective earth.

For transmitter which does not have electrical parts such as gauges,

A pressure reducing regulator maintains a desired reduced outlet pressure while providing the required fluid flow to satisfy a variable downstream demand. The value at which the reduced pressure is maintained is the pressure setting of the regulator.
